Yagatame Co., Ltd. is a specialized manufacturer of sea salt and edible oils, established in 2001 on the Goto Islands of Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. Located in Shinkamigoto Town, the company's mission is rooted in the philosophy of President Shuta Kawaguchi: to "share the blessings of the island" through their products.
Yagatame's salt is made from the seawater of the Goto Islands, concentrated and crystallized using the traditional flat-kettle method fueled by firewood (approximately 4 tons used daily).
MOSHIO (藻塩), which translates to "Seaweed Salt," is a special salt produced using the traditional Japanese Hiragama (flat-kettle) method and pristine seawater from the Goto Islands in Nagasaki.
To maximize the flavor of MOSHIO, it is recommended for simple dishes. The umami inherent in the salt enhances the delicate flavor of the ingredients. In Japan, it is used as a dipping salt for Tempura and Sushi.
